What Is a Walkabout?

South Park Walkabouts occur 4 times a year; South Park businesses stay open late to celebrate our customers and South Park's renaissance.

Mark your calendar for festive evenings throughout South Park, where shops and businesses welcome visitors and the sounds of live music entertain walkers (and trolley riders) as they wander through our neighborhood. Each walkabout features:

• Live musical entertainment
• Shops open late
• Many shops offer refreshments and specials
• Free trolley from 6 to 10pm, with convenient stops at main shopping areas (Juniper, Grape & Beech Streets)
• Special food & drink offerings at South Park restaurants, coffee shops and taverns
• Free parking at Christ United Presbyterian Church (30th between Elm and Fir), and Gala Foods (corner of Grape & Fern), plus plenty of street parking throughout the neighborhood

Stroll to neighboring stores and restaurants or hop on the free shuttle to Beech Street and check out that end of South Park. Kids, dogs, parrots... everyone is welcome!

The quarterly South Park Walkabouts provide pedestrians great opportunities to explore the great shops, enjoy lively entertainment and special treats from local South Park businesses.

South Park, one of San Diego's oldest neighborhoods, is also one of San Diego's newest cool neighborhoods. Great food, art, music, unique gifts and interesting services provide a flavor to our neighborhood that is unlike any other. Located just east of Balboa Park, South Park is known for its beautifully restored craftsman homes, which are showcased in the annual Old House Fair every June.
