"I have always loved beautiful things and surroundings. Painting has become the vehicle for me to express what I feel passionately about as an extension of my world.
"I am inspired by vivid color and the pictures in my mind of places I have been.
"I see my paintings as an extension of my life. My work is continually changing and growing. Painting is my passion and my escape."
Artist
Gail Ruff has spent the last several summers traveling to Provence in the south of France during the month of June when the lavender is at its peak. Each year she returns with many colorful, impressionistic watercolors of the lavender and sunflower fields in addition to some of the beautiful villages of the region. This year she is headed to Tuscany in the fall.
Gail is a long time resident of Mission Hills where she lives with her best supporters: her husband and springer spaniel. She is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society and the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library.
She has won numerous awards in juried shows. Her paintings are held in private and corporate collections, and her line of original greeting cards and calendars are sold in local galleries.
