For those who have finished knitting the Daphne Purse, featured on the cover of Knitting Little Luxuries: Beautiful Accessories to Knit, learn to do the ribbon embroidery that makes this bag extra special. We'll also be interfacing, lining and sewing the purse together.

"This purse was inspired by the wonderful embroidered straw bags popular in the 1950s. The yarn, a blend of linen, silk and cotton, reminds me of golden straw. The herringbone stitch pattern makes the bag dense like a woven fabric and very strong and hard-wearing. I love the three-dimensional flowers, which bring this piece to life."

• Assorted lengths of ribbon yarn
• sewing needle
• 13" x 22" fabric for lining
• sewing thread to match lining
• 12" x 19" iron-on interfacing for body of purse
• two 12" x 2" pieces iron on interfacing for purse handles
• common straight pins
• fabric scissors / shears
• scissors / thread snips
