Mom once compared me to a little crow because I love sparkly things. I was entranced by cheap paste rings from the bubblegum machine, glittery pieces of glass on the ground, the way the afternoon sun hit the candy dish on grandma's coffee table, even shiny tin foil on house windows. (What's up with that anyway?)

To celebrate my distraction by all things shiny, I have designed this crochet beaded purse made from Louisa Harding Nautical Cotton and sparkly beads. This little clutch is a great introduction to crocheting with beads, learning to join pieces and simple shaping. (There are even a couple of little interior pockets in case you find some sea glass or shiny pebbles...)

• US size H crochet hook
• scissors / yarn cutter
