You're welcome to bring your own food, drink, and cameras on board or join us afterwards as we swap fish tales at the Fish Market post-sail! Call the Grove today at 619-284-7684 to register for limited seats. All registrants may attend the Watchcap Knit-Along for free on 2 February 2008!

Sample a variety of 14 yarns in delicious colors at our knitting table, enjoying the company of other yarn lovers and a few palette-pleasing snacks, too. Be among the first fiber connoisseurs to order your favorites in single or multiple skeins in the colors of your choice. Call the Grove today at 619-284-7684 to register for one of 15 limited seats. Please bring an assortment of knitting needles in US sizes #2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 or crochet hooks (US sizes C thru K). ("Sommelier" Liz Knapp)

Brown Bag Writing Practice Group 12 - 1 PM Every Tuesday: 5, 12, 19, 29 February 2008 $5

Knit Salon 6:30 - 9 PM First & Third Thursdays 7 & 21 February 2008 FREE
Drop in and join fellow knitters and crocheters for an evening of creativity in the cozy atmosphere of The Grove. No instructions offered, but yarn selection advice is available.
Crochet Club 12:00 noon - 2 PM 2nd and 4th Sundays 10 & 24 February 2008 $10
Want to learn to crochet, but don't need another scarf? Come every session to build your skills, or drop in occasionally to learn a new stitch. We'll work on samplers (including granny squares) to learn a different stitch or technique at each meeting. These squares can be used to make a purse, afghan, pillow... OK, even a scarf... I won't tell. They'll even stand alone as wash or dishcloths or other small useful items. Drop in and get hooked! And the rules: Not too many. This is a drop-in class. Although a more relaxed version of instruction, please do not expect individual project assistance. I will be happy to schedule a private instruction appointment with you for your own projects! (Instructor Melody Hufford)

Have you ever walked away from a yarn because you didn't know what to do with it? Did you ever discover your Superwash socks are even SOFTER after washing and drying? Learn in 2 hours the answers to these questions and the fundamentals of what textile engineering students learn in college, only in the fun, friendly, fiber-holic environment of The Grove! Materials: The Knitter's Book of Yarn by Clara Parkes. (Instructor Liz Knapp) Skill Level: Beginner - Experienced
Sparkly Clutch 2 - 4 PM Saturdays 16 & 23 February 2008 $40 for 2 sessions + $15 accessory kit
Mom once compared me to a little crow because I loved sparkly things. I was entranced by cheap paste rings from the bubblegum machine, glittery pieces of glass on the ground, the way the afternoon sun hit the candy dish on grandma's coffee table, even shiny tin foil on house windows. (What's up with that anyway?) To celebrate my distraction by all things shiny, I have designed this crochet beaded purse made from cotton yarn and sparkly beads. This little clutch is a great introduction to crocheting with beads, learning to join pieces and simple shaping. (There are even a couple of little interior pockets in case you find some sea glass or shiny pebbles...) Materials: 4 skeins of Louisa Harding Nautical Cotton yarn; beads & beading needle (included in $15 accessory kit); US size H crochet hook; scissors/yarn cutter. (Instructor Melody Hufford) Skill Level: Easy
Undulating Waves Scarf 1 - 4 PM Sunday 17 February 2008 $30 + $15 accessory kit (includes pattern, beads, Big Eye needle)
The Undulating Wave Scarf pattern designed specifically for "Susan" yarn by Schaefer is mesmerizing as the wave pattern crests with shimmering beads. This is a wonderful class for advanced knitters to learn how to incorporate beads into their fine knitting. Materials: 1 skein "Susan" yarn; US size #6 knitting needles; scissors/thread snips. (Instructor Judy Thacker) Skill Level: Experienced
Rockies Shawl TBA Saturday 23 February 2008 FREE with purchase of required yarn
Knit just 1 generous skein of mohair, silk, and wool into an openwork triangular shawl with deep, gorgeous fringe. Learn a bind off that is very stretchy, and how to apply and knot the fringe. Materials: 1 skein The Rockies; 1 skein matching Baby Kid Mohair; US size #10 or 10.5 circular knitting needles 24" or 32" long; scissors/yarn cutter. (Instructor Liz Knapp) Skill Level: Easy (ability to read a pattern, cast on, knit and YO)
