Brown Bag Writing Practice Group: Every Tuesday, 12:00-1:00 p.m. Fee: $5. Given prompts, practice all types of writing free from editing or critique. Just drop in prepared to write. KNIT SALON : First & Third Thursdays, February 2 & 16; 6:30-9:00 pm. Free. Drop in anytime and join fellow knitters and crocheters for an evening of creativity in the cozy atmosphere of the Grove. No instructions offered but yarn selection advice is available.
SIMPLE HAT CLASS: Saturday, February 4, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Fee: $25. Learn the long-tail cast on and how to decrease and purl while making a simple hat. Most wear their hats home from class! Ideal for graduates of the Beginner’s Knitted Scarf Class.
ONE HOUR FLOWER CLASS: Saturday, February 4, 11:00 a.m.-noon. Instruction fee: $10. Materials: $15. Christen Brown will teach how to make a silk rosette with a button center and mitered leaves.
BOHEMIAN BUTTON BRACELET: Saturday, February 4, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Fee: $16. Materials: $30. Christen Brown will teach this wonderful class that explores the use of buttons in jewelry. See www.christenbrown.com for photos!
MAGIC LOOP FINGERLESS GLOVES: Sunday, February 5; 11:00 a.m. –2:00 p.m. Fee: $25. Marie Long teaches how to knit seamless fingerless gloves using the Magic Loop technique and one circular needle (verses double points). The same technique can be easily applied to hats and socks!
KNIT SCARF CLASS: Wednesdays, February 8 & 15, 6:30-9:00 p.m. or Saturdays, February 18 & 25, 1-3:30 p. m. Fee: $40. It’s not too late to learn a new skill in 2006! Tap into your creativity by learning to cast on and knit during Part One. Part Two: return to complete your scarf and fringe it if you wish.
CROCHET HAT CLASS: Sunday, February 12, 11:00a.m.-4:00p.m. Fee: $25. Melody Hufford will teach beginners simple crochet stitches to make a classic winter hat.

STITCH PATTERN CLASS: Sunday, February 19, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Fee: $25. David Kraft teaches how to make cables, eyelets and other stitches you’ve been afraid to try on your own. Great way to expand your knitting skills.
FABULOUS THROW CLASS: Saturday, February 25, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Fee: $25. Judy Thacker teaches how to combine colors and textures to make that awesome throw you’ve been admiring in the shop. Any beginner can make this elegant piece knitted in four panels on #19 needles and crocheted together with a simple single crochet stitch.
NEW BEADS N' MORE PIN: Sunday, February 26, 11:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Fee: $40. Materials: $30. Christen Brown teaches making this stunning and unique beaded brooch.
SWEATER WORSHOP IN PROGRESS: Sundays, February 5 & 26, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Sessions III & IV of David Kraft’s sweater workshop continue for those enrolled in January.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
In the event the Grove needs to cancel a class due to lack of participants, the Grove will issue a full refund. Participants who are unable to attend as planned, must notify the Grove within five days of the class in order to receive a refund. Otherwise the class fee is forfeited. Fees cannot be applied to future classes. |
