The Store on the Corner Joins the Grove!  December 1, Christen Brown who owns The Store on the Corner will join the Grove as a vendor showcasing adornments for home and body.  In the New Year, Christen will be teaching her signature classes in silk corsage making, tassel creations, and more.

First Friday Open-Mic:  Friday, December 2, 7-9pm; Free.  Presented by San Diego Writer's Ink and hosted by Amy Wallen.  Bring 3 minutes of prose to read aloud in a supportive, relaxed atmosphere. For more info, contact amylizwrites@hotmail.com.

DECEMBER WALKABOUT!!!!  Friday, December 9, 6pm-10pm.  Free.  Join us in celebrating the holiday season with music by the San Diego Mandolin Orchestra, a raffle of unique gifts from South Park merchants for the benefit of the South Park Action Council, sales and special treats.

Brown Bag Writing Practice Group:  Every Tuesday, 12-1 pm; Fee: $5.  Given prompts, practice all types of writing free from editing or critique. Just drop in prepared to write. Knit Salon: First & Third Thursdays, December 1 & 15, 6:30-9:00 pm; Free.  Drop in anytime and join fellow knitters and crocheters for an evening of creativity in the cozy atmosphere of the Grove. No instructions offered but yarn selection advice is available.

CHRISTMAS PROJECT FINISHING CLASS:  Saturday, December 17, 11am - 5:00 pm; Free.  We'll offer encouragement and guidance throughout the day to knitters and crocheters who need support in finishing their Christmas projects.  Accomplish more in the company of others!

BABY BOBBI BEAR:  Saturdays, December 4 & 11, 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Fee:  $40.  Learn how to make Blue Sky Alpaca's Baby Bobbi Bear from one of their scrumptious yarns.  We'll finish Bobbi just on time for holiday gift giving.  Pattern is included in the class fee.  Come see our adorable store sample!

COOL STUFF IN THE NEW YEAR:

NEW CLASSES:  Starting January, 2006:  look forward to taking a five-class sweater workshop, a stitch class (where you will learn how to make cables, bobbles, and other exciting patterns), a free-form throw class, a mobius felted bag class, and more.  By the way, we are very open to suggestions, so if you have any regarding a class you'd like to attend, please let us know!

AUTHOR APPEARANCE:   Women on the Edge/San Diego Writers Ink (SDWI).  January 14, 2006  7 p.m.  Free.  A joint reading by contributors to Women on the Edge and members of San Diego Writers Ink.   Women on the Edge, a recently published anthology of writing from Southern California, has been heralded by Kirkus Reviews as "brash, thoughtful, intelligent and sassy," and by Homeslice Reviews as "a Whitman's Sampler of literary delights" and "a stellar collection of stories by women whose voices deserve to be heard and at peak volume."  The Anthology was recently the subject of a Los Angeles Times article on Voices from the West. SDWI is an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting local writers and their work.  3 readers from each group will read selections.  Scheduled SDWI readers are Amy Wallen, Judy Reeves, and Patty Santana.  Contributors to Women on the Edge who will read are Jody Hauber, Rochelle Low, and Karen Horn.  

TNNA, January 20-23, 2006:  The National Needlework Association is holding their annual convention in San Diego for retailers who will be selecting exciting new Spring yarns.  We'll attend to stay on top of fashion trends and to seek out the latest in fibers and designs.  Since so many knitting experts and authors will be in town for the convention, we are offering the Grove as a venue for book signings and workshops.  So stay tuned for an exciting roster of knitting-related events in January!

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:

In the event the Grove needs to cancel a class due to lack of participants, the Grove will issue a full refund. Participants who are unable to attend as planned, must notify the Grove within five days of the class in order to receive a refund. Otherwise the class fee is forfeited. Fees cannot be applied to future classes.
