COOL STUFF IN THE NEW YEAR: NEW CLASSES: Starting January, 2006: look forward to taking a five-class sweater workshop, a stitch class (where you will learn how to make cables, bobbles, and other exciting patterns), a free-form throw class, a mobius felted bag class, and more. By the way, we are very open to suggestions, so if you have any regarding a class you'd like to attend, please let us know! AUTHOR APPEARANCE: Women on the Edge/San Diego Writers Ink (SDWI). January 14, 2006 7 p.m. Free. A joint reading by contributors to Women on the Edge and members of San Diego Writers Ink. Women on the Edge, a recently published anthology of writing from Southern California, has been heralded by Kirkus Reviews as "brash, thoughtful, intelligent and sassy," and by Homeslice Reviews as "a Whitman's Sampler of literary delights" and "a stellar collection of stories by women whose voices deserve to be heard and at peak volume." The Anthology was recently the subject of a Los Angeles Times article on Voices from the West. SDWI is an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting local writers and their work. 3 readers from each group will read selections. Scheduled SDWI readers are Amy Wallen, Judy Reeves, and Patty Santana. Contributors to Women on the Edge who will read are Jody Hauber, Rochelle Low, and Karen Horn.TNNA, January 20-23, 2006: The National Needlework Association is holding their annual convention in San Diego for retailers who will be selecting exciting new Spring yarns. We'll attend to stay on top of fashion trends and to seek out the latest in fibers and designs. Since so many knitting experts and authors will be in town for the convention, we are offering the Grove as a venue for book signings and workshops. Participants who are unable to attend as planned, must notify the Grove within five days of the class in order to receive a refund. Otherwise the class fee is forfeited.
